RMS owns a spacious building currently undergoing renovation. A portion of the building, located IN Wallingford, CT, is currently being used to provide DAY supports to 10 individuals. The remaining portion of the building, once renovations are complete, will support up to an additional 20 individuals. RMS was recently awarded a grant, which will allow us to equip the large lower portion of the building with a variety of Assistive Technology. The purpose of this development would be two-fold. First, the equipment and products will promote communication, inclusion, independence and well-being of those attending the day program. Second, RMS will utilize the space and technology outside of day program hours as a place for individuals within our residential programs and I.H.S. supports to gain exposure to technology that can benefit them in their lives. It will be a place to explore, view, and be assessed for use of the various available devices. A portion of the grant money will also be used to provide training to up to 5 RMS employees to become certified technology assessors! We are extremely excited to be able to expand our resources to better support people to be successful in a changing world!
